Concert of Prayer; October 5th

2 Chronicles 20:4. ‘So Judah gathered together to ask help from the LORD; and from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.’

As previously stated, the next Concert of Prayer meetings will be held on October 5th between 10-00am and 12 noon, although a few churches will be meeting the following week.

I have been informed of meetings planned for October 5th in the following places: Sheffield, Hull, York, Wooler, Ulverston, Preston, Accrington, Milnrow, Lincoln, Grundisburgh (9 am), Stowmarket, Ruislip, Chatham, Yateley, Smeatharpe, and Exmouth; there are also meetings planned for Newcastle upon Tyne and Brighton, but owing to local circumstances, these will take place on October 12th. All meetings begin at 10 am, unless otherwise indicated. I do not have any addresses for these events, but if any of the churches involved would like to write in, I will certainly give them publicity here.

I cannot think of anything more important at the present time than for the Lord’s people to seek His face in prayer together. Humanly speaking, the cause of Christ is at a uniquely low ebb in Britain right now and it has become clear that God has, for the time being at least, given the country over to its own wickedness. Yet we should not despair; God’s mercies are very great, and perhaps He is saying even now: ‘”For a mere moment I have foraken you, but with great mercies I wil gather you. With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; but with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,” says the LORD your Redeemer’ (Isaiah 54:7-8).

‘O Israel, return to he LORD your God. For you have stumbled because of your iniquity; take words with you, and return to the LORD. say to Him, “Take away all iniquity; receive us graciously, for we will offer the sacrifice of our lips”‘ (Hosea 14:1-2).
